From working to fund addiction to God working in Simo's life

Igal met Simo when he took his car for repairs a few years ago. Simo was a mechanic and, over the years, they regularly spoke about Jesus and Igal’s work. Simo showed interest, so Igal invited him to his church. Sadly, there was always an excuse not to come.

A couple of years ago, Simo shared the reason behind the excuses. He worked all week and drank heavily all weekend. Igal invited him to the rehab centre his church runs but Simo said he couldn’t come as he had to work to pay his rent and buy alcohol. He was working to fund his addiction.

Two months ago, Simo called Igal. He had lost his job because of his drinking and was living on the streets. He was ready to go to the rehab centre so Igal told him he would need to quit drinking and be open to God's work in his life. Simo said he had no option but to turn to God for help.

Initially, it was difficult for Simo at the centre and he wanted to leave. Igal and the team prayed with him and he began to settle. Simo began attending Bible studies three times a day and, as God worked, he lost his desire to drink.

During a Bible study on the Good Samaritan, Simo said that he felt just like the wounded man helped by the Samaritan, but it was Jesus who had helped him. Shortly afterwards, Simo was on his knees, repenting of his sin and turning to Jesus for forgiveness. Hallelujah!
