Introducing Misha
Misha was born into a family of Jewish atheists in Ukraine. As a result, he grew up embracing atheism, following communist ideology and believing that there was no God. Being Jewish, he grew up thinking that any Jewish person who believed in Jesus was a traitor. His family didn’t celebrate Jewish holidays but held a strong Jewish identity based on intellectual and moral pride. Misha describes himself back then as ‘a Communist Pharisee’.
As Misha grew up he had questions about life and found that the beliefs he held to could not provide him with any answers. Then at the age of 27, he visited an evangelical church out of curiosity and began reading the New Testament. Despite initially struggling with his old beliefs, in contrast to what he was learning from the Bible, ultimately he came to faith in Jesus.
Since that time, Misha has spent over 25 years as a missionary to his own Jewish people. Today he lives in Jaffa, Tel Aviv with his wife and has a fruitful ministry reaching out to other Russian-speaking Jewish people who have emigrated to Israel from former Soviet countries and discipling those who have already come to faith in Jesus.
