The Truth will set Nurit free

PLEASE PRAY FOR: Nurit
MISSIONARY: Grace Lan

LOCATION: Glasgow, Scotland

Grace was speaking with a Jewish contact called Nurit when a social worker came to visit. Grace has known Nurit for many years. When the social worker asked what she was doing there, Grace explained she knew Nurit’s family and was there to invite her to an evangelistic course at her church.

Nurit has many personal issues. She is angry with her parents and resentful about past family problems. As a result, she is reclusive and rarely leaves her home. It surprised the social worker to see that Nurit even had a visitor. She commented that the course would be good for Nurit and encouraged her to give it a go.

Nurit wasn’t so sure. She told Grace she didn’t think Christians would accept her as she is Jewish, so Grace assured her that all people – including Jewish people - were welcome on the course. A conversation about the Ten Commandments followed, with Nurit saying she thought they were out of date. Despite being locked away in her flat all the time, she has many modern views that conflict with what the Bible teaches, and Grace spent time discussing these with her.

They also spoke about forgiveness. Grace mentioned a quote from a Holocaust survivor, who said that those who do not forgive lock themselves in their own prisons. This seemed very fitting considering Nurit’s current situation.

Grace continues to reach out to Nurit and is waiting to hear whether she will accept the invitation to the evangelistic course at her local church.

For your prayers...

  1. Please pray that Nurit will respond positively to Grace’s invitation and that, as she hears more about Jesus, she will be saved.

  2. Please pray for Grace as she continues to reach out to Nurit and other Jewish people like her in Glasgow, through festival outreaches and both in-person and online evangelism.
