Jewish and Christian?
PLEASE PRAY FOR: Secular Israeli group
MISSIONARY: Misha Vayshengolts
LOCATION: Jaffa, Israel
Misha was at a church service when six secular Israelis came in. Misha greeted them at the back of the room and explained they were a congregation of mainly Jewish people who believe in Jesus.
One of the group asked to speak outside the church. Misha was happy to oblige and, when they left the building, he discovered the group was larger than he initially thought. Around twenty Israelis from the same group gathered to hear what Misha had to say. The man who asked Misha to come outside told them, ‘This intelligent man will tell us who Jewish Christians are.’
Misha explained that the congregation believes in both the Law of Moses and the New Testament. Telling them about God’s promise of a New Covenant in the book of Jeremiah, he explained that the believers there follow Jesus, who established this New Covenant and fulfilled the Old Testament messianic prophecies. One of the group added, ‘It’s written in the book of Isaiah.’
When another asked if Misha was Jewish or Christian, he confirmed he was both. The group asked further questions about faith and Jewish and Christian festivals. Misha answered their questions and invited them to upcoming services at the congregation.
Before they parted, one explained, ‘We are a group made up of all kinds of Israelis: some are anarchists, some follow different politicians.’ In reply, Misha told them, ‘There are also Jewish Christians here in Israel, because Jesus rose from the dead.’
The group thanked Misha for what he had shared before moving on.
For your prayers...
Please pray for the members of this secular group who heard about Jesus. As they reflect on all Misha shared, please pray they will return to his church to hear more.
Please pray for Misha as he continues to reach out to Jewish people in Israel, through personal evangelism and his online ministry.
